Hi,
Along with everything else I am doing to my CSX, I want to replace the exhaust system. several years ago, I replaced the stock exhaust with a 3" S.S. Forward Motion system. works well, its just that I am now almost 51 y.o. and its a bit loud for me (fine for younger folks). this 3" system is in great shape and I would be willing to sell it when I get the new system on there. (a matter of a couple months).

also, I would like to get the car back to as stock as it can be. I noticed on the list of special CSX parts on another website, that the muffler and tailpipe are CSX specific. Did the CSX use a standard Shadow turbo exhaust except for those two parts? I know the CSX came with s.s. exhaust, but what was the diameter? (I forget, old age you know).

thanks for the help and info.

i think the mufflers are the same... you could just get a nice muffler on your exhaust instead of changing it out

yeah the benefits of a 3" would be silly to give up get a second through muffler or jsut a quiet high flow unit. im not sure about a td application but magnaflow mufflers can be VERY quiet

Dennis - last I checked (about a year ago) the muffler and tip were still available new from Chrysler. If you've got the 89 csx special parts list, it should have the part numbers right on there. You can take that down to the dealer and order the correct factory pieces. Just be sure to hold onto your wallet...I think the muffler is around $300 and the tail pipe is about $100.

That's the way to go if you're restoring back to original. However, as others have said, 3" ss exhaust is nice, so you may want to consider just finding a quieter muffler.
