Wondering if anybody else has pondered using sections of 4 into 1 bike headers for use as a custom home built manifold? Some of the factory original's are resonable gauge, around 1.25" to 1.5" ID tubes, and have really nice collectors. They are also cheap as people want to swap them out for the lighter aftermarket. Also some of the newer stuff is nice stainless. Some for eg. are GSX-R1000 Suzuki(stainless),ZX9's and ZX6r's Kawasaki.Sifting through the crap on Ebay will give some pictures and Idea of price, some are super cheap...
I am looking at using this Idea on my hybrid engine, but the 8v guys may also find it interesting.

I dunno how many people have the resources to weld up a manifold like that. Doing an ebay search I've found 2 things. #1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-S...spagenameZWD1V
$80 for a buncha SS bends and collectors? Such a deal.
#2 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GSXR-...spagenameZWDVW
I realize its SSA crap, but why do motorcycles get sub $200 SS manifolds and we don't?!

Very thin walled lightweight applications. It merely has to support the weight of itself (the header and collector). I know my last bike header was a Kerker, and from exhaust port to muffler ( 4 tubes 2 feet long, collected into one that was almost another 2 feet or so) weighed in at a paltry 7 lbs. It'd never stand up to auto use, especially with a turbo hanging off of it.

with the turbo mounts that TD's have would it be that big of an issue? It'd still be fun to get 2 and make a set for a V8
