Just curious if anyones tried tack welding a nut to the exaust housing/swingvalve where the downpipe bolts to.. just to make it alot easier to remove and install exhaust/turbo?

Just wonderin.

Did it on my stock car 2 yrs ago and I haven't had any problems. My exhaust comes out a couple times per year so the bolts rusting in place isn't an issue for me.

I use the nickle base hi-temp anti seize on mine and they come off just fine.

Last year I purchased an aftermarket spring & bolt kit for my exhaust and the nuts had large tabs welded to them. There was no need for a wrench and it mad them easy to hold in place. I think it's a better idea than welding the nuts to the swing valve housing (just in case).

^ +1 You can find "flag bolt" exhaust parts in the Help section of most auto parts stores.
"I use the nickle base hi-temp anti seize on mine and they come off just fine." this what I do and never have a problem.

welded inconel nuts to mine.... used antiseize.... factory should have done that....when tearing a turbo dodge apart for the first time, it is obvious that the factory never used antiseize anywhere..... and certainly went cheap on bolt quality....

this idea works great!!!
