I been playing Grand Turismo 4 for PS2 and i was wondering if its possible to have a flame pop out of the exhaust everytime you shift, and down shift. I know i could use a flame thrower kit off of ebay, or just put a spark plug in the exhaust pipe, but im looking for a natural way to do it.

Here's a hack that's been around since the very start of the hot rod movement. Car exhaust flame throwers work by interrupting the spark to the engine. This dumps raw fuel into the exhaust system. The fuel is ignited by a coil and spark plug placed right before the exhaust tip. Doing this will shorten the life of your engine (and pedestrians). The raw fuel strips the oil off the cylinder walls and contaminates the oil causing more wear and tear. Also, this mod can't be used on a fuel injected car. It would foul the O2 sensors and catalytic converter.
theres a bit of information on kits and such if you google, but looks like nothing other than kits and the sparkplug method, dunno why people do this if it wears out your engine

Get a soft-touch rev control with a switch on the clutch, put in a 5600rpm chip, and an open downpipe. Keep your foot in the gas when you shift and you'll get plenty of pops and some flames when you shift. Then again if you go through all that trouble and money just so you get the look of flames out the exhaust you're an asshat.

I've been told with my cutout once awhile I get flames to come out. Other than that I had it happen once with full exhaust out the side. Driving at night and big orange flame lighted up the ditch. Happen when I miss shifted it just right. Made a very loud noise like a gun shot but I don't think it was a back fire. I had the Idea of doing it normaly if I had exhaust wrap it to the tail pipe and keeping nothing in the way like a cat or muffler might be able to do it.

the first time I did the timing on these cars, I went to start it up and KABOOOOM! It backfired the loudest I've ever heard, put all the fireworks that were going off (it was the 4th of july) to shame and shot a 3 foot flame out the exhaust. It even popped my ear drums INSIDE THE CAR with the doors shut. It left a nice burn mark on my driveway thats still there to this day, and blew the guts of the cat into my neighbors yard! So, if you want flames just set your timing 2 or 3 teeth retarded, and stubbornly try and start it until it floods and wala, free flames

retard your timing a few degrees and bump the fuel up a pinch- you'll get those lovely grand turismo flames every time you shift. if you have a cat- remove it and replace it with straight pipe. the cat runs about 1500 degrees or so and usually burns up the extra fuel in the exaust. if you ditch the cat and turn up the boost a little you'll probably get flames without adjusting the timing or fuel
