the piping diameter has all to do with the hondas & the like, buzzing, you got 1 7/8" piping dumping into a 2.5" 'universal' muffler thats normally cheap, so it doesn't have dense packing, & then a 4" tip, ones with full cat backs tend not to buzz as bad, or at all, it think also header design has to do with some of the buzz, also the lack of a anti-reversion chamber doesn't help either
I put a Caravan resonator on my buddies '94 Tercel (1.5 sohc, 82HP!!) & its sounds great!! Caravan resonators are about 2", & are chambered straight thrus, meaning instead of lots of peforations & packing, its a few stratigic holes & (from what i can tell) 3 separate chambers to work the sound waves
I welded a 3" tip on the end of it creating a little anti-reversion chamber, & its on new replacement 1 7/8" piping
