For anyone in Norcal (doubtful) I went to Marco muffler earlier this week and had them do up some 2 1/2" exhaust (weird). I went with side exit, just before the drivers side rear wheel.

I'm a bit dissapointed though, I paid $245 for non mandrel bent 2 1/2" exhaust with only a cat. I really don't think the press bends are going to make any considerable restriction on the flow. In all there are about 4 mild bends with 1 90 degree. It's not that bad. Cat ran me $110, wtf!?!?. I really wish I had just picked up a high flow Catco...oh well.

I'll take pics and post them later. I'm not that disatisfied though. When you include the cost of shipping, I'm sure a pre made kit would have ran me more money after paying $80 to have it MIG welded on...

true, shops charge alot for labor, probably would have been better off buying a prebuilt setup from a vendor and just bolting in on yourself

after getting exhaust for my spirit, i dont think i'll ever let a 'regular' shop do my exhaust again. i did like 2-1/4, that over tha axle pipe looks horrible!!!!! I cant remember what i paid but whatever it was, it was too much. for my money, if i do it again, I would get one of the prebent kits from FWDP

Chris I checked the site and didn't see any kit for the Daytona. I'm wondering if there is one made that is Turbo back with room for a cat and muffler that is 2.5" mandrel bend. I'm planning to modify the existing Turbo tail tip from the '86 to fit the 2.5 pipe and perhaps have it rechromed if necessary. I don't want to go to 3" since the car will never see more than 180 ish HP.

For the millionth time, its called running a business and paying overhead. If you want to rent a building, buy all the licenses, fees, taxes etc and then have some whiner complain about $110 for a cat, its a wonder anyone of us want to stay in business. Next time, do it yourself, sheesh,

Hey Simon, how about you stop overreacting and calm down. This isn't a rant thread by any means.

I am calm, just tired of shops getting bashed by cheap TD'ers who have no clue of the real world.

Sure sounded like a rant to me!

Look dude, this isn't going to start into some ridiculous flame fest. But in defense of myself, I will say this. I'm not ignorant, nor am I cheap, and if I was, would I have accepted the shops quote? No, I would have turned them down and went somewhere else.

I will admit, I was startled to see a generic cat running $110, when a vendor sells a solid name brand Catco for nearly half the price. But whatever, I understand that there is markup.

I'm not displeased by any means.

x99999 buyers remorse sucks when you are just learning something as you will usually pay more then you should even though you do research.

i work in a shop and even though that sounds a little high, i do not feel you were "cheated" out of your money as long as they did a good job. yes you can go and get the parts yourself and bolt it on yourself but they supplied all the parts and labor for that price, you just had to drop it off and pick it up and it was done. like it was said before there is a lot of overhead in a shop and that is why the labor and parts are more, also the pipe benders cost about $5000.00 and up and thats just for the machine not the elec. and all the other costs. also i have customers that will pay a little more because they are getting the quality they want.

the universal performance Catco is a lot different than buying a stock type converter. In many states you cannot hook up a universal cat and run it, they require the correct spec stock cat and nothing else. I've priced stock replacement cats at $268 for an Omni. And many shops won't sell a performance cat trying to cover there butt's from getting fined. At $110 for the cat you got the system for $135. When I supplied my own cat (Catco) I got the whole bent 3" system out the back for $165 because I knew the guy. He also had about 17 bends to get it through lol.
