I am new to the 2.2s, and got totaly raped with my exhaust on my truck.
The exhaust on my car now has a crappy muffler which spits and sputters and sounds like it's all rotted out inside.
The car is a completely stock 2.2 T2, and I was wondering if a 3" turbo back would be overkill. In Minnesota we don't have emission testing so I can run without cats.
If I go without cats, do I need an o2 simmulator?
What would be the best set-up for a quiet, stock looking, exhaust?
In my truck I was just able to have a custom true-dual x-pipe run with Borlas and o2 simms, but I just am not 100% sure how the turbos operate...yet.
Originaly I got the car for the milage, and to keep miles off of my truck, but I would like to do a few small things to get a little more juice out of it. Anything you guys could recommend would be sweet.

Overkill? Nothing could be further from the truth. You want the LEAST amount of flow restriction after the turbine to get the MOST exhuast gas through it and the most energy put to it. Find one from a vendor, it will fit. If you can afford a 3" swing valve and a 3" down pipe you'll have an awesome exhuast system that will suppourt just about anything you can throw at it. If you want to do it on your own, any muffler you can see directly through is a good idea, and you should get a cat to save good ole' mother earth. If you don't want to run the cat all the time, you can run a cut out @ the track, like me. With a cat and a straight through muffler it is everyday driveable quiet. Other people may chime in differently, but I would never ever ever go back to the stock 2.25" pipe size, nor a 2.5" for that matter.

Do 3 inch, use a Magnaflow, Ultraflow, any fart can, I also like Super40's. You can make your own using mandrel bends or go to www.******************** or www.fwdperformance.com

This may be a stupid question...But whats a swingvalve?
Are any of the exhausts on ******************** going to fit? They don't seam to be labeled as for which car.
I have not looked at my car ('89 Daytona with T2), but as I understand it goes from the turbo to a downpipe, to a cat, to the cat-back, right?
Are the o2 sensors picky?

the O2 sensors are fine, you dont need to mod them in any way.
basicly what you want to do after the down pipe is to make it as fre flowing as possable. i went with a 2.5" mandrel bent cat-back set up with a magnaflow muffler, it's wounds AWSOME!
i got the mandrel bends at a local truck shop for pretty cheap, all you need are two 90* and two 45* for over the axle.
hope this helps out some.

I'm a "If you going to do it, do it right!" kind of guys, so I will want a really nice mandrel bent kit.
Yes it does help, everything helps atleast a little, but I still don't know what a swingvalve is.

The real swingvalve dumps the exhaust past the turbo wheel when you reach max safe boost???? It is part of the turbo between the exhaust manifold and the downpipe. 2.5/3" refers to the size of downpipe that will fit it.
TU for the 3" swingvalve and downpipe and FWD for the 3" exhaust. TU's exhaust is just for the Omni so far.

The Swingvalve is the flange that is bolted on the right side of the turbo in this picture: http://www.pbase.com/rmscott/image/14793509
The above picture is of a stock 2 1/4" swingvalve. Here is TurbosUnleashed 3" swingvalve; http://********************/shop/prod...products_id=90

So I am looking at:
Combo TU 3" Swingvalve and 3" Downpipe from ******************** - $350
Catback Pipes 3in. Shadow/Daytona Alum - $160
Catco 3 catalytic converter - $75
Dynomax Super Turbo 3 x 3 inch - $69
That sound right?
I can probobly get a better deal on a different muffler, but I will use this for referance.

since you have a 2.5" SV already I wouldn't go through the trouble of putting a 3" SV on it. if you careful you can port it a bit with it still on the car but don't hit the turbine. Then just bolt up the 3" stuff. I'd skip on the cat and get a dynomax race magnum muffler. Since you're going out the back noise in the car won't be an issue as long as the end of the exhaust is an inch past the rear bumper.

Okay, the swingvalve is like $200, so it's nice to know that I don't really need it...
So the 3" exhaust should bolt up to the stock swingvalve?
