to seal the exhaust manifold to the downpipe and provide some room for flex so it doesnt break.

The dish is where the exhaust donut sits.

Notice its shaped dish-like to match the swingvalve surface. This allows it to twist up/down/side to side and still make a good seal.

This is the downpipe, which has the flat lip near the end that pushes the donut into the dish.

The exhaust doughnut is more commonly referred to as the muffler bearing.

I thought it was the knuter valve.

Does anyone know where to get only the flange for a downpipe? Short of making one I guess a bone yard would work too. But what about new?

Another question...If I were to get a 3" swingvalve back exhaust, with a new donut...Would the 3" exhaust donut fit the stock swingvalve?

Use a grinder to bore out the 2.5in to 3inch.
