Need to knock some drone out, with my baby coming, don't want to hurt his ears and also with more freeway driving now I have moved, its getting annoying. I find a nice 3 inch Vibrant model, 9 1/2 inch body and I could mount that where the muffler used to be or will a resonator in the tip make any difference-this one-

Have you checked out getting a muffler? Like maybe a spintech? I hear they are pretty good.

I would think right after the cat would work best... not sure why but it just seems that way.

Its a full 3 inch mandrel system with a Magnaflow at the back, tailpipe exiting in the stock location. I just need to reduce some of the interior drone.

I found a website from a WRX owner who put a resonator tip on his car and said it took quite a bit of wrasp out of the tone, I've also heard from a few people the same thing.

At present, it sounds awesome, deep tone with a wicked bark but I need some interior drone gone. Its getting a bit much now I am the highway for an hour everyday.

What about using some peel and seal on the undercarriage?

Nah, resonator is cheaper and easier. Just need to figure out which one will do the best job.

good luck with that. I would like to hear about how it works for you so when I decide that the 3in exhaust on my shadow is too much I can throw one on to cut back on the noise

Well, no one can give me a straight answer so I am putting the resonator where my original muffler used to be. I will post up what it does. I guess the packing in the Magnaflow is going as its getting louder inside,

My Magnaflow on the 3.0 Duster did the same thing after a year or two. After it got a bit louder it has just stayed that way for a few years. So at least it should not get any louder.

I won the resonator tip so I'll try that when it shows up, its a piece of cake to install so we will see what happens.

Be sure to record the sound before and after if you can Simon. I am very interested in quieting mine down a bit too. Thanks.

I wonder if the resonator tips do anything? They dont look like they would do much.
I have a glasspack right after the downpipe then a turbo muffler at the end of the exhaust. It sounds great and the glasspack helps quiet it down and makes it deeper.

wow, im surprized you can hear the drone over the wind coming through the weather stripping....

i found that cleaning/reoiling the air filter really reduces the drone....
replacing the muffler should help some...
i pointed my exaust tip 45* down so the exaust points at the ground, it reduced the noise behind the car + it adds to the sleeper effect.... (although the van doesn't need help in that department.... ) ill post a pic later.
i have a 3" exaust with a saber muffler with catco hiflow catatic converter
