cmb,

that cone thing looks like it might just work for my application. I wonder how it goes into the muffler? i guess it works kind of like a slip ring or something. I'll def. look into it.

also, forward motion isnt exactly the only vendor with exhausts

try www.fwdperformance.com
or www.turbosunleashed.com

i used to have a dynomax superturbo muffler, and it sounded just like stock... sure they dont flow as well as a straight through, but good for quietness untill your really on it at high rpms

Hmm.. I don't think I'm going deaf..but I had a hi-flow cat installed and completely eliminated the muffler altogether on my 89 CSX and I don't really consider it very loud. Sounds ALOT like an srt-4 really. I'd like to do the 2.5 downpipe al the way back.. but I'd bet that's louder... hmm

well, I guess loudness is in the ear of the beholder. My reference for quietness is a Cadillac Catera.

Anyway, I just found (after hours of searching) a place that has stainless steel resonators (link below). these are supposed to quiet down exhausts w/o disrupting the flow much at all.

question: my car isn't here since its having suspension and brake work done on it right now, so maybe someone can help:

is there room (after the cat) for a 4" dia. resonator or a 4.5" high/ 6.5" wide resonator on a p-body? I imagine it would have to go between the cat and the rear axle. these resonators are either 12" , 14" or 18" long. which would fit best?

thanks for info and opinions.

I don't know which would fit best, but the longer the more effective at noise reduction I am guessing you should have enough room for the 18".

Going by my daytona the 4" diameter is doable ... the 4-1/2 x 6-1/2" oval probably not. My 6" diameter S/S DynoMax was up tight to the shielding just in front of the gas tank and still hung too low for my tastes. It lives where the CAT was/should be now. ... only place big enough (forward of the rear axle).
