how close to the studs did you go? if its too thin that would make a crack point wouldn't it?

I don't have a measurement. But with the studs bottomed out in there holes it acts as one piece of metal in a way.

I did take a micrometer and was able to measure the outside edges of #'s 1 and 4 and there was about .030 inches in difference. #1 being the small edge(bigger port than #4). But i havn't installed this on my car yet so who knows how good it will be or if it will hold up.

Head porting done. It went well and the head goes much faster than the manifold.

Im also getting a valve grind done and new seals and guides installed.

Ill have pics when i get it back from machine shop.

Hey guys, I use carbide bits to port my manifolds, then a sanding drum on a dremel smoothes off any dimples the bits leave.
But, I'm new to head porting and want to port mine. Everytime I've gone to do aluminum my bits always just clog up. Any advice, need different bits? Are there bits just to do aluminum?

Haha, carbide FTW!

If they get clogged with the gummy aluminum, put some oil on them every so often. It sprays all over the place, but it kept my bits clean.

Pictures!

I use wd40 spray to keep the "tootsie rolls" from gumming up.

Would there be any point in me porting my 782 head if I'm running the little mitsu turbo or will it just lead to overboost issues?

With a fairly well ported head, you'll make more power at 10# of boost with your Mitsu than you previously made at 15#. It absolutely makes sense to open up the biggest restriction in your entire engine.

+1

also, you'll be looking for a new turbo after you've reached the limits of the mitsu : D

If you're concerned about overboost, go ahead and turn the die grinder on your mitsu while you have it all apart.
