Just started putting the 3" kit on my Daytona. What a PITA. The Exhaust hangers don't even line up. Anyone else have a hell of a time getting this kit to work??

I understand the car was never ment to have a 3" exhaust, but man it's a tight squeeze.

I have just installed mine. I didn't use the provided "hangers" that were welded on the new pipes. Other than that, it is a snug fit but the pipes seemed to be bent properly. I didn't drive the car yet with the new system on. Still waiting for the roads to be cleaned up from winter.

I have the "L" body kit

Yep. Same here. Spent about 2hrs lining this thing up this afternoon on my R/T... Finally have it where i think its decent but what's the deal with the hangars not lining up? At least if they did it wouldve been a bit easier....

Well, I have mine on now. I'll find out tomorrow if its gonna bang around or not.. It looks good.

I'd seriously like to know why the hangers didn't work

Also, having the pipes labelled would have saved me some grief! The "S" shaped piece seemed to almost work either way..

Mine had the "S" piece hangers 180° out of place, so that the long end was forward. I rewelded it so long end is to the back. I am also having problems getting the piece between the "S" pipe and muffler to clear the spring and gas tank.
When I get the car running I am just going to take it to my exhaust guy and let him fix it.
It looks like a good product, but it should come with instructions.

I haven't installed my kit yet but the shipping was delayed because the hangars had been welded in the wrong place (G body kit). It seems the hangars have been an issue. Different locations for different years??

I haven't tried this but I've read on this forum that the gas tank can be slid over a bit if you loosen it's mounts. This might give you some badly needed clearance.

I was all fired up to put the 3" system on but then I decided that before I put the new swing valve on I should rebuild the spare turbo. Then I figured that I should port the head, too. Then I didn't think there was much point in that unless I ported the manifolds. And why do that unless I switch over to the blow-through intake and do a T2 conversion? I'll get it all done someday.

Clearance problems between the spring & gas tank will be gone if you flip the "S" pipe around. I tried it both ways and found WAY more clearance having the short end at the back. This allowed the next pipe to get way up high and have decent clearance...

BTW I noticed the hanger locations are the same on my 85 Daytona as my brothers 91 Daytona. So there should be no reason why they don't line up-they obviously haven't changed locations..
