OK, so I KNOW I saw an adapter doughnut available that made it so that it was possile to go from 2.5-3" at the swingvalve, but now I can't find the stinkin' thing! Anybody know what happened to that product?

LOL...crap. I actually need it to work the other way around! I have a 3" DP and need to adapt it to a wide bolt pattern 2.25" SV.

I can bolt the spring bracket and everything to the SV, but I just don't theink the 3" doughnut is going to seal to the reciever cup in the SV.

I wonder if an adapter like that can be made?

The way I envision this part is that it looks like a hollow mushroom...part of it slides down in to the DP, then on top it widens out to sit on top of the DP and it has the propper contore to fit the reciver cup of the smaller SV, but can still utilize the larger DP and spring bracket for a later upgrade....

Chris, what to you think? Can this be done?

Yeah you need atleast a 2.5'' swingvalve for it to work.

For what to work? The openening at the reciver cup is the same size on the 2.25 as the 2.5. I have an '88, so the bolt pattern is the wide one...same as a 2.5". Why wouldn't an adpater work?

No the 2.5'' swingvalve flange opening is still a little bit larger than the 88' 2.25'' large flange even though the bolt pattern is the same. It's not much larger, but trust me the 3'' downpipe BARELY seals on the 2.5'' swingvalve.

I'm not saying to try and seal the 3" doughnut to the 2.25" SV. I know that won't work, I already tried it on mock-up.

What I AM saying is to make an adapter the will allow the use of the 3" DP with the 2.25" SV.

I'm going to make a crude drawing and post it up....

Anything can be done, I'm just telling you what you can do right now! Who knows how long it will be until something like this is made.

Here's the crude drawing of what I have in mind. It doesn't have to be tapered on the inside, but I figured it might help with flow.... I don't see why something like this wouldn't work....

Or you can spend $100 and buy the 2.5inch swing valve right now.
