I have a few of these around and just was bored so I figured why not... This is what I have done so far to it. It's the #3 runner still needing to finish but thought i'd show everyone and see if anyone had some advise and get feedback on it as much as possible.

I got rid if the bumps quite a bit more. I think knife edging the divider is a good idea, others may disagree. My thinking was that if it were blunt the gas would want to hook around, not go into the turbine housing. Knife edge it has a straighter shot into the turbine. I could be wrong though.

Don't port out the flange bigger than the turbine inlet. Be careful not to go to crazy in any one spot. I put a window in mine once. Don't worry about the rest of the log, it's nearly impossible to get to and I don't think it will help flow.

I'm still trying to get rid of the bumps and smooth out the lines better. I have been focusing on the #3 so much cause of the two humps in there. I got off the line on the flange alittle bit but was also planning on porting the turbine housing flange area out as well. Any advice on how to get this thing as smooth as possible? and thanks for the input -Clayton

Use a carbide cutter to get the big parts out (go on ebay, they are CHEAP!) then use sanding rolls to get it perfectly smooth. I left mine rough. The little bit If figured I'd gain from polishing it wouldn't have been worth the time or effort.

My dremel is collecting dust right now, and probably will forever. It spins way to fast for my taste and the chuck is to small to get any decently sized tool in it.

If you have an air compressor, grab an air die grinder from harbor freight for $5, if not, try and find a bigger electric one. I see them go for $70-80 on ebay. The power difference between either of those and the fact that you can more easily control the speed is worth every cent.

If you have to stick with the dremel, they do make carbide bits, but they are expensive and weenie. You're probably better off sticking with the stones at that point I guess. Maybe check on ebay for larger carbides that will fit the dremel chuck? I dunno that I'd want it winging around like that without as much control over the speed though.

I removed the bumps completely on mine, no I didnt bust through although some claim they have. Smooth out the grinding you have done already, and try to lessen how sharp the turns are where the runners enter the log.
