Wanting some info on how others like it/hate it. My exhaust is 2.5" mandrel from turbo back and will be adding the dynomax ST soon. Any suggestions on placement for better tone, etc. Any and all comments are welcomed. TIA

for performance, its not particulary great, better than stock flow i believe, but its still a pathed muffler which in our case hurts performance. a better bet is a straight through muffler, aka. the walker ultraflows...

Yeah, I had one and it seemed just a tad louder than stock. I felt a difference in performance, but it was a real cool night when I put it in anyways. Better than nothing, but get a round straight through like an Ultraflow or something similar....except those are loud.

I use the Dynomax "welded" muffler. It is a straight-through design. Long and oval in shape. Some have told me that it is only slightly louder than stock but that is a bunch of crap. Its much louder. I had to install a functional catylitic converter to tone it down.

It may be a different story with a 2" in/out vs my 2.5" exhaust though. 3" is going to be even louder. Also probably a slightly different story with a stock vs modded engine.

I've decided what I am going to do for exhaust--3000 GT twin turbo dual exhaust.

Not trying to bring this thread back but add on to it.

I was thinking of trying the car with straight 2.5 mandrel bent pipes(no cat or muffler). i have been told that cause how the turbo works it tones the exhaust down. I have read where some exhaust where crazy loud with this/that muffler. How loud our these engines with a turbo back straight exhaust?

I have used the Dynomax 'super turbo' on V8 cars and loved the mellow tone it has .. that was years ago though

depending on how much long distance driving you do, the no cat/no muff option isnt *too* loud; it is actually pretty quiet at idle and low speed, but opens up to be pretty loud when youre on the gas or cruising at higher speeds

you could always add the muff later its not that hard

this isnt the best example but heres a viddie of my omni with a 2.5" SV & DP, then a 2.5"->3" cone with a 3" mandrel all the way back; no cat or muff; as you can see its pretty loud inside the car. of course I have gutted my interior too

this was beginning of last summer; car is faster now

You want a straight through muffler. I have a dynomax ultra flow oval. I run them on all my cars. I have a full 3" on my van, its loud, but not bad at all, its my DD and I take long trips and it doesnt both me at all. Sounds wicked when I am on the gas!
I would guess the oval is quieter than the round version due to more packing, but I dont know for sure.

Thanks for the audio clip... But my computer to being a turd so ill have to try to listen to it later on.

I sold the muffler, and it's now a 2.5" turbo-back system with no cat or muffler. It will be alittle bit before I get to drive the car. If the need for a muffler comes I was going to be looking into a free flow muffler.

I have the Dynomax Race Bullet on a FWDP mandrel bent 3" exhaust. I couldn't be happier with it. It is a straight through muffler so no need to worry about excessive back pressure. Also, it isn't very loud and sounds great. In fact, there is absolutely NO drone at any speed. Here is an audio clip for you:

Exhaust clip.

has anyone used or heard of people using this magnaflow muffler? I'm thinking about getting it, but I'd like to hear what it sounds like on a 2.2 TII with no cat lol. I don't think anyone has a sound clip though =P
