I need to fabricate my swingvalve for my tranny buster. I found the parts i need to do it to my downpipe, but i have questions about size. If i have a 2.5in flange, do i get a 2.5 in diameter pipe to weld it to? just making sure before i buy my pieces and then how do i go about getting the o2 bung welded, drill a hole first or what>?

yes you will need to drill the hole first otherwise you run the risk of damaging the threads on the bung when you try to run the drill thru ; drill the hole a little oversize in case you don't get the bung *perfectly* centered

MIG or TIG tack around the circumference of bung in 3-4 places, then fill in between.. take your time and let it cool between passes (minimize warping)

I usually drill the hole just undersized, and file to fit. It's more work, but a carbide die grinder doesn't mind much and the end result when t.i.g. welding is MUCH better.. if your mig welding then a little loose won't matter. When you tack it in place do one spot then go 180* and get it level, then go 90* and repeat... good luck..
