Alright i have a 89 sundance witht he 2.5: turbo motor, RFL bov, big FMIC and boost controller and i have decided its time to do something with the exhaust. Now has anyone ever just ran a downpipe with a little bit of piping connected to it? was it raspy? anoyingly loud? I am looking for a cheap alternative to make some more power and i have acces to a welder through a friend and tons of piping but i would rather just keep it simple. Is anyone on here running just a downpipe with a few feet of piping? whats it like? do you have a soundclip? please help me decide with my cheap exhaust modification. Oh btw im in canada and i dont have to deal with emissions issues.

First of all: http://www.turbododge.com/forums/f8/...show-pics.html WTF?

Second, I don't know how the TD cars sound with a DP and a few feet of pipe but I have a friend who did have a setup like that on his turbo civic(D16A6-91 Si) and it wasn't his favorite exhaust setup.

Try it and see how you like it, having a friend with a welder is a plus if you need up not liking the tone. Even easier way(not sure what they cost) a cut-off Y-pipe(can't remember what there called exactly).

i used to have a built civic type r motor in a hatchback before my sundance and with civics no matter what kind of motor/turbo setup you have you will always get the rasp aka the bumble bee noise without a reasonator. I think i am going to just get my friend to weld up a reasonator and dump it out the side. thank you for your insight.

if the pipe exits under the body it'll resonate badly because it basically turns the car into a drum. You don't mention what turbo you have. You'll want at least a stock Garrett 1st. Then go with a 3" d'pipe from one of the vendors and maybe TU's 3" swingvalve. After the d'pipe you can go with some straight pipe, and a 90 degree mandrel bend to route it out the side.
