i have mine wrapped by the gas tank and over the rear axle...partially to keep heat from the tank, and partially cause it rubs the spring on that side...that wore through though, so i need a better way to keep it from rattling....its just DEI header wrap from work..

I have been wrapping exhausts for many years now. We do it alot in go-kart racing so you dont burn your elbow on the hot exhaust pipes. I use a company call Longacre for the wrap. Anyone that races any kind of karts of stock cars should know of that brand. I like them the best cause it almost black in color(for a while at least)I did the downpipe from where it bolts to the turbo to about where the cat would end on one of my cars with the 3" stainless. The only thing you have to worry about wrapping is it crystalizes the pipe. It also holds in alot of moisture and will cause it to rust faster if its not stainless. Its not that big of a deal if you have thinkwall pipe though.

I wrapped my previous track car just because i was offered some wrap and had nothing else to do one day. I dont believe you will see HP gains but its more of a safety issue for other vehicles like motor bikes and Go karts and is not something you should expect HP from. It should keep your engine bay temps down though.

I used Summit brand 1" wide wrap on my 2.5" DP and the 3" pipe near the gas tank; its cheap, and the 1" is easy to work with, going around bends and such

I just use 'mechanics wire' to hold the end in place, or a hose clamp

my main reason for wrapping the DP is to keep the heat away from the footwell/trans tunnel area

What area of the exhaust are you wanting to wrap? I'm only doing the DP cause its stainless, the rest is alum.
