Just ordered the 3" exhaust system with the 3" swing valve from Chris at TU. I'm not installing a cat or a muffler, what kind of performance gains and SOUND should I be expecting? The tranny is stock, will that be a problem?

the biggest gain will be a drastic reduction in spool-up time, also i'd guess HP/tork will increase perhaps 5% or more and peak at a slightly lower RPM, all very good gains.

a bone stock a-525? if it is healthy it should serve you well until you start laying down over 200 hp at the tires, then it is on borrowed time if you are hammering on it like at the track. good luck with the installation.

The 525 in my stock 85 daytona was shot when I bought the car. The diff pin was coming out of the carrier and tearing up the housing. This car tops out at only 150hp. Beware of the 525. Of course, I don't know how many burnouts were done with the car before I bought it but the tires did not have unusual wear.

swapping from a 2.5 to 3" sv when you already have a 3" exhaust is supposed to increase the torque output like 30 ft-lbs!!!

I think he's waiting to get them back from the manufacturer, he was checking the bends after a couple complaints. Have you called him lately to check status?

3" exhaust with no cat or muffler is really loud, it will turn some heads. I like the way the turbo sounds though with no restrictions. Kind of like a diesel pick up.

well it's not too loud if you're not into the throttle ;)

through town or cruising at 35-50mph its not bad ; once you get on the boost or above ~2500rpm it starts to open up and then it does GET LOUD

Like someone already stated, ruduced spool time, which = more power under the curve + better breathing up top. It's a win, win! I ran my complete 3" exhaust (right to the rear bumper) with 1 straight through res last year. Seemed alright at first, but after several hwy trips ( I drive to the track and back when racing) I could feel my ears, like I just came out of a concert. This year I swapped 2 Borla straight throughs on there with the res and it's much better.
