Looks like the exhaust manifold used on a Spirit R/T or Daytona IROC R/T T3 engine. It used a standard ford style t3 flange.

Yeah not even close to looking like a TIII 16V manifold. But yes that is accurate the TIII uses a standard T3 flange, thats about all that manifold and a TIII has in common LOL.

I dunno.... It's not perfectly squared off... and that round 'donut mark'.... Reminds me of Volvo..... Why would it be on a dodge manifold, tho?

It may have had a volvo turbo on it. You got many options with the standard T3 flange to put whatever turbo you want on it!

True, and if it was a Mexican car, who knows what they did to it!? They did offer intercooled 8V auto cars down there....

That is interesting to say the least. We need someone in Mexico to post a pic of a commonly found TD manifold there...

Well here's a small update. There is a part number on the bottom of the manifold so I sent it to a friend, who works at Chrysler's Tech Center, and this is his reply....

"Howard,
I looked up that part you were wondering about. All I can tell you is that it is 04725074, and it is an exhaust manifold. Unfortunately I can't find any applications that used it. Also, it looks like the first usage of it was 1996, but that's all I can see."

Maybe he's wrong about the 1996 date as I have no idea why they would be playing with the old 2V head design when the 2.0 Neon head was out...I think.

Something from China maybe? Didn't they buy the tooling equipment for these old engines and start producing them around 1996?

Can't be, that manifold would put the turbo in the firewall.

No big deal, not many people have even seen the engine bay of a 2.5 dakota anyway.

How about this "what if"? Wasn't the Indy Pace car an 87 Lebaron? I thought they used some special parts on that car - Intercooler and 0.63 A/R turbine housing for sure. Well then maybe tooling wasn't available for the unique Dodge style turbine housing soon enough - or they just wanted to try out a 0.63 A/R first so they used a standard T-3 (off of a ford probably, since it was already on manual trans T-birds). So it's possible, they just used the entire Ford turbo, so then it wouldn't have that Dodge unique compressor housing angle, so they needed to move the turbo over enough to clear the head? Sounds good anyway - that's my story and I'm sticking to it....until a better one comes around.
