What Size Swingvalve/exhaust will be on my Z stock?

What Size Swingvalve/exhaust will be on my 88 Shebly Z stock? 2.5 right? Do I need 3" My plans are for performace is rebuilt t2 with quick spool and braided lines, fcim, Stage 3 cal, Ported exhaust manifold, are rfl bov (getting that REAL soon). Its a daily driver so I want to keap it reliable but with them perfromace mods would there be a need for 3"? If I just get a performance cat and muffler?

Need 3 inch swingvalve? No.
Do you need acceleration? No.
Do you need turbo? No.

IMO for your goals:

a '89 2.5" SV (available aftermarket also for << 3") and an '89-up 2.5" DP mated to a mandrel 2.5" exhaust will be perfectly adequate

I totally agree that is what im currently running, and it runs quick and spools fairly quick for a garrett.

Just so you know. A 2.5" Downpipe will connect to your 2.25" swingvalve without any trouble. Bolting my 89's 2.5" exhaust up to my 88 Z was some of the easiest exhaust work I've ever done.

3" or nothing!! If you have the turbo off spring for the 3" SV and downpipe combo. boost hits way sooner. Went from 2.5" side exit straight pipe to 3" side exit straight pipe and noticed the boost hit way sooner. LOVE IT
