well... it says "as orignally designed" but on cars with no bumper cutout... I suppose you could put it wherever...

See, that section of the inspection code is what gets bastardized. Some people see "edge of the bodywork including the bed" and think that means the rear. That portion of the rule was instituted because lots of guys with trucks ran it to just behind the cab (under the bed) and cut it there when the rule used to read "must extend beyond the passenger compartment".

And to the poster immediately above, it can exit to the edge of the body OR in the stock location (if that location ends under the body).

well i have to say i feel REAL sorry for you bums because way up here in calgary alberta canada we dont have to have cats and any thing that even remotly looks like a muffler counts my rig has got a cummins 5.9 turbo with a fabed 3 inch downpipe stainless manderal bent with somthing that sorta "cough" cough" resembles a cherry bomb IE gutted and ive run it out the side "next" to zero restriction and the cops would much rather ticket me fur a busted tail light lol and loud wow my girlfriends mom knows im dropping her off almost 15 minutes before i even get near her house heh i love it so much
