Finally did the first major mod to my '89 LeBaron 2.5 T1. Rebuilt the motor last fall and installed a G Valve set to 12 PSI, and have put about 3000 miles on it since then.

Decided that the first upgrade needed to be bigger exhaust, so ordered a
2 1/2 inch catback system. It sat unopened in the garage for a couple months, when I finally opened the box, I discovered that it was 3 inch pipe.
Worried me a bit, I've read on here that with my little Mitsu, boost creep is about a 50/50 chance with 2 1/2" and nearly certain with 3".
Figured what the hell, if it creeps I'd port the wastegate some. So I bought a 3" hi-flow cat to go with the 3" pipe. No muffler yet, didn't know what would fit until the pipes were installed.

Installed the system two days ago. Only took three hours - my buddy recently installed a lift in his garage (I'm jealous) so the work went quick and easy. Mighty tight over the axle, but didn't have to shift the gas tank like some have done. Test drove the car yesterday and did some WOT runs to near redline in second gear. No creep at all ?? The only difference I see is that instead of the rock solid 12 PSI that it's been running, now it's 13 PSI rock solid.

There must be a horseshoe hidden in my trunk somewhere, I'm just amazed and pleased that there's no creep problem. Ordered a magnaflow oval muffler this morning. Although the car sounds awesome at full throttle, I just don't need the ticket that I'd inevitably get, and I also want to keep this car in "stealth" mode for future fun with ricers and mighty mustangs.

It's because you just used a cat back, the rest of the tiny exhaust system, pre-cat is still there. Get a 3" Swingvalve, and 3" mandrel bent pipes and then see how boost creep is

Aha. Yes, the stock 2 1/2" downpipe was left in place. The pipes that were put in are mandrel bent. This is a temporary setup, my turbo goal is a modest T2 Garrett with 3" swingvalve at a later date. Not really sure if those two pieces can mate? Don't feel I'll try for any more than mid 20s in PSI.

Still think the 3" I added should increase flow. Original cat looks like 2 1/4" out, then goes even smaller at the joint before the rear axle up and over, looks to be 1 3/4" from there back.

sure your flowing better, - just not to the point where it's easier for the exhaust to go thru the turbine and not the open wastegate... if that makes any sense
Your still good cause the stock DP is crush bent. That creates turbulence and turbulence resists flow.

You certainly have to watch the noise level if you are anywhere near the oceanfront. The VA BCH police don't play around when the think it's too loud.

I live 7 miles from the strip, don't venture down there often anymore, but I can tell you've certainly been here before.

Haven't been to the Oceanfront in a long time, It' about an hour drive for me. You ever go to Bass Pro In Hampton on Saturday nights? It's a pretty good turn out of cars. People usually get up there around 6 pm. I'll be up there next Sat, prolly around 8pm. I have a red '88 Shadow.
