The o2 sensor is stuck. I've sprayed ungodly amounts of liquid wrench, wd40, etc.. cannot even fit a regular wrench in there. 2.5 non turbo. Channellocks don't even fit. Would it just be easiest to remove the whole intake with throittle body in it just to get to it? I'm starting to lean that way. It's ticking me off to no end. I've already broken a wrench when I actually got one squeezed in there ... a Craftsman wrench .. 3 people pulling on it with all their might and the wrench broke off.. o2 sensor just laughed at us.

get a 6 point socket, a flex head breaker bar and a propane torch FTW.

Yes you will definitely want to hit that thing with a torch to heat it up but sometimes you just cant win. Sorry to say that.
I hope you have better luck than my last O2 escapade.

Last struggle I had was with an O2 in a swingvalve. I had the swingvalve in a 10" bench vise and heated it all to hell. Mine still wouldn't budge. Finally got it to the point that the cast iron was so cherry red that the iron was melting where the flame licked it. I had to cut the wires off the O2 and use a socket with a 31" breaker bar. It turned really slooow, but I finally got it out of there. I would never have gotten that off with the motor in the car.

Get the o2 socket. They sell them at harbor freight.

+1 on O2 socket.
Use Mapp Gas, Propane will not get hot enough, you can buy a complete Mapp Gas setup at Home Depot/Lowes for about $40.00.
We use Mapp Gas in work when we do not feel like lugging the torch's around, it will come in very handy for other jobs, you will be glad you have it.

im gonna have to leave it running rich as hell having to blow out the crap every morning. my back bumper is black by the muffler. fuel pressure is running fine. i have no way to remove the engine at all. all the work i do to it has to be done with engine in. no time or tools. if i just cut it, i can hit it with a 21mm socket/breaker bar.

I can sympathize with you throwing in the towel. Work smarter not harder - right? Although you cant get the O2 out of the manifold, nothing is stopping you from welding a nut ( or bung) on the downpipe and putting the O2 there. Just make sure you don't have any exhaust leaks at the donut or you'll be back where you started.

Are you sure the O2 is a fault?
O2 does not have the authority to make the system "black rich", and is not even used on start up "open loop".
I would be checking the MAP and CTS circuits, FPR leaking, Leaking Injector, etc.
You may set a code 52 which is "Rich Exhaust Indication" because the O2 is latched on the rich side but the O2 is not usually the problem. The O2 only responds to the amount of air in the exhaust stream, if it says I am rich and the controller cannot correct thru its fuel correction parameters then the code appears.

it may be as simple as a coolant temp sensor.

The o2 sensor in every car ive ever had has enough authority to make the car run like crap, the size of the o2 sensor is a 7/8 or 22 mm heat the hell out of it and when you think youve heated it enough burn it for a lil bit longer, sometimes you can get a big set of locking pliers on there and stick a pipe on the end to bust it free if the hex starts getting mangled.
another idea might be to just take her to the muffler shop and ask them if they can heat it up with the acetylene torch and pop it out, never seen something that wouldnt come out that way they probobly wouldnt charge too much for that

I forget where I read this, but I remember it said to disconnect the front motor mount and twist the motor forward. Sounds like it makes it A LOT easier to get to.

Last o2 sensor I had basically took the threads back out with it.
All I can say is good luck to you, and I hope you get it out.

+1 on the muffler shop. They do it regularly. Also, use some heat-rated anti-seize when you reinstall!

Well, after finding a rare tool in this town, a DEEP deepwell socket 3/4 inch breaker bar, a jack bar to use as an extension, about 3 fat guys pulling on it, and a few select sensual words of advice for the sensor, it came out finally. New one went in like butter, and I used the high heat anti seize . Thought about that before I bought the stupid thing. No torch, just cut the wires and folded them down into the socket, and gave it some hot sensual lovins.
