I had new exhaust put on my 1991 Spirit R/T today. I hope I can figure out how to link the before and after videos. If they don't work, be patient. My R/T has +20 injectors and an ND SBEC. Everything else is stock.

The videos have full descriptions of both exhaust systems. The descriptions are IN the videos.

The old Dynomax exhaust sounded great. It was slightly louder than OEM, but had an awesome off throttle turbo whine. My Dad is 70 and he could even hear it. At all speeds the exhaust note was never too loud and always pleasant. It added to the "sleeper" theme of the Spirit. The bad is that it was too restrictive. 2 1/4" was not enough because when I really got on the throttle, the mellow exhaust note turned into a rocket blast-off sound. I believe this setup is perfect for someone who likes an OEM look, a slightly more agressive sound, and better flow than OEM. Full 2 1/2" would be great, but on a Spirit it's a real tight fit over the axle.

The new 3" exhaust has a VERY mellow and low tone. It has none of the ice-picks-in-your-ear blat sound, even at full throttle or decel. There is a little cackle on decel and the rare backfires aren't loud. My turbo spools faster and the car seems to have a bit more power. The bad is that it is a lot louder than my old exhaust and the turbo whine is gone. I'm sure if it exited out the back it would help a lot with the noise. It passed emissions, including the noise test for Oregon. Some states won't allow side exit exhaust. It might be too loud for some to use as a daily driver.

The new exhaust is a lot louder than the old but the camera equalizes the volume. I guess you'll have to turn up the volume on your computer. FYI

After a couple of "test" driving days I'm giving my final opinon on my new exhaust.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being the best exhaust I've ever heard), I give it a 9. The videos don't do it justice. It sounds much better in person.

On loudness (1 being OEM, 10 being straight pipe dumped under car), 6

If you want something with a lot of mellow rumble and NO fart pipe/blasting trombone sound, this exhaust system is the way to go.
