exhaust matchup to swingvalve

my question is will the 2.5 downpipe mount up to the swingvalve on my 87 t1 shadow or will i have to buy a 2.5 swingvalve also?

Yes, just die grind the bolt holes a bit.

i dont know what you mean by die grinding the bolt holes, if you could describe it to me in more detail i could probably do it at school. thanks.

The two mounting holes are a little further apart on the 89.

The mounting holes in question are on the downpipe donut flange. The downpipe is matched to the turbo exhaust outlet, so a mismatch of downpipe and turbo outlet size will mean the bolt holes on the flange and turbo outlet won't line up.

I used a Dremel and carbide cutter bit to grind the bolt holes in the flange inward, so that they matched up with the smaller turbo outlet. The flange itself it stainless steel, so it's a real pain to grind..

Be sure to use eye and hand protection. I had shards imbedded in my forearms when I was done.
