I replaced my stock one with a 3" hooker max flow muffler (21605) and I am very happy with it. It seemed quieter than the stock one, which did have a couple of holes in it. It is a straight through type.

I have had the best luck with the Edelbrock RPM Series muffler. I am running the Truck/SUV 3" one for supreme durability. It quiets the car down to a very tolerable level, and robs absolutely no HP. Back to back runs at the track with and without the muffler net the same times.
