Well I don't want to spend the 400$ a shop wants to put on full 3" exhaust from turbo back. So what I want to do is cut off the cat/muffler and rig up a side-exit. The pipe is 2 1/4 right? How should I mount the side exit tail pipe...coat hanger? Sawz All should be enough for the pipe..yes?

just cut off the flanges for the factory exhaust and weld them onto your side pipe setup, it'll bolt right up to the factory hangers. Get underneath there and you'll see what I'm talking about

You can buy hangers at an auto parts store that will work aslong as you can find something to bolt them to.

Theres one I have holding up my muffler. I went the cheap route on my side exit exhaust too . On 89+ cars the downpipe is 2 1/2 and on the 88s and older I think its 2 1/4.

Yeah I've changed where I bolted it and it now hangs about the same as stock. I was just in a hurry to get out on the road .
