My friend runs 3" side exit on his 86 GLHS. He has it pulled up tight. Heck I did it for him. Ground F/X are unneffected.
Well, on mine the exhaust is pointing right at the ground f/x, and i had it pulled up tight for about a day, and yes it started melting it, your friends must be long enough to where it points out past the ground fx, which still isn't good enough for me since you lose ground clearence from it going under the skirts

I cut mine off just before it made the bend to go over the rear axle, thats just before it goes down from the 2.25" to whatever sit shrinks to.

Been done for a few months now, no fumes no issues at all on the Lancer.

Electric cutout is a switch in the car that opens your downpipe for race aplications and such. You run a full exhaust and at the flip of a switch...open DP. Good for catching the ricers unaware. LOL.

edit: not that they are aware of our cars in the first place :big grin:

now that I've been underneath my car, I think a center exit exhaust is feasable, and will be more unique. Now gotta find some Porsche Boxer tips, or something that will make it unique and not ricey.

I have a 3" side exit on my GLHS and haven't scraped it once since I put the new Koni's w/ LRE -1" spings on it. The only real problem is that it gets real loud at drivethoughs and next to a wall on the freeway. Never smell any fumes unless I have the back driver's side window down and I'm at a stop with a wind blowing the right way.
