I wanna put it on my charger, but my dad(ASE Mechanic for many moons) seems to think it would be very dangerous because gases can get up in the car. Hes ok with me going to take the cat off and run 3" exhaust, he wants me to run it out the back and have a semi-quiet muffler so I don't wake him up. If I can't get him to give in about the side exhaust, i'll just run a single center exhaust.

My van does and the fumes only bother me when setting at a light with the window down and even then the wind has to be blowing the rightway. The big problem with it is I can't get any of the shady shops to give me an inspection sticker with it like this.

same here.i have mine registered in s.c at my cousins house(no inspections):big grin: but fumes arent really an issue unless the wind blow just right with the windows down.also you lose about 10 lbs of pipe. any weight out of the rear is a good thing with these cars.

The onlt time fumes get in my car is when the door is open and the wind is blowing that way. window down hasn't seemed to be a problem.

I have had a side exit for 3 yrs. No problems, although I did notice a little suplhur stench right after WOT bursts, when I came to a slow or stop if I had the window down.(catalytic converter smell)

I'm going to do a 3" side exit. Can somebody posta pic of their setup...do you have it hidden behind the gfx, or sticking out?

Would it be worthwhile go get another 90 bend to direct it toward the back of the car again and leave it like that?

I have mine cut flush with the outer most curve on the lower ground effect on my 87 Z. I cut the ground effect just to give it some clearance over the pipe. Looks good. Can't tell it's anything other than stock if you didn't know it. I think it's best to get it out from under the car.

if you look under your car at the original exhaust pipe "channel" you'll see that abit after the cat is makes a 90* toward the drivers side. you just keep it going straight from there. If you look you'll understand.

best not to do it on the pass. side b/c it'd be right against the fuel lines.

I have a side exit on my omni glh (previous owner installed it) and I don't like it that much because it has to sag a little, if it's pulled up tight to the chassis then it would melt the side-skirts, but when it's sagging it scrapes speed bumps. It necks down in a few areas to like 2 inches, so i'm upgrading to a full exhaust out the back, it'll be better performance, quieter (with a muffler) and more ground clearance

My friend runs 3" side exit on his 86 GLHS. He has it pulled up tight. Heck I did it for him. Ground F/X are unneffected.
