What you're looking for is the McCord Power Plate "Electric Cutout"..
Voila:
McCord Power Plate - Click Me
Essentially you take a Flowtech "Y Pipe" style cutout, attach it in-line with you exhaust and bolt this thing to the end. Instead of having to crawl under the car and remove the wingnuts to uncap the exhaust, you just activate the dash-mounted switch and the sucker opens. w00t!
For the best results, have the Flowtech piece mounted as close to the turbo as possible..

We just completed a McCord power plate group buy. The electric cutout was 91.00 with the wiring and switch, everything....I love the crap out of mine......You can get the Y-pipe from Summit for like 26.00 it includes gaskets and blockoff plate.

No sence in reinventing the wheel, unless you just want to. The ypipe is 26 and the electric cutout is 115. Problem solved. All the engineering is done.

Not if you go with the electric motor. Theres about 15.00 just aluminum for the body, then the ss butterfly, the mounting hardware, the shaft, the motor, cable and switch. If you can make the same plate for 20.00 I'll buy a dozen. Then you have the CNC machine...

holly cutting holes and finiky adjustments batman!! When I hear of mechanical cable actuated cutouts, I shudder. There is no cable to stretch, you can run the wireing through the factory gromet in the firewall, and you have a nice little switch, as apposed to cutting hole for cable, and mounting an ugly lever.
For the $91 I spent on my powerplate, I think it was well worth the money, no headaches, and no hasles.

Long as you think it's worth the money............by the way, it takes a long time for aircraft quality cables to stretch, and that's under decent load
