I was wondering how to do this. Can I simply not plug the egr sensor in or is there more to it. The reason I ask is because I want to get the turbonetics swing valve for my 84Z and for it to work I either get rid of the egr or machine in a fitting to make the egr fit the swingvalve. I hope I'm posting this in the right forum if not my bad. Thanx guys

If you have a 84T1 (Log), eliminating it isn't too bad. The valve is bolted to the compressor housing. On my Horizon I removed the valve, and tapped and plugged the hole. That got rid of the entire setup, but if you just to "turn it off" just not plugging it in should do the trick, as it is opened up by vacuum (controlled by a solenoid).

Now you need to get rid of the pipe going across from the swingvalve/02 housing. If it's not rusted in and you don't break it, an old O2 sensor will plug the line. If the line breaks, you can crimp and weld it, or jam it full of exhaust cement (doesn't work the greatest, hehe). But I guess if you want to replace the swingvalve, the line would be gone anyway... =p

On another note, if you are still running a 84 T1 (log) some better gains might be had converting to a blow-through intake and starting your mods from there.

I'm going to go w/ the T2 set up when my motor is done but right know there is alot of work left to do(FM aluminum rods, pistons, bearings,ect..) so right now I'd like to pull as much power as posible out of what I have. The turbo needs rebuilt so I want the sv and a quick spool from TU. I'm getting w/ another member here to mod my Log for intercooling and then going w/ either the spearco, or Griffin intercooler.

Will the removal of the egr screw any thing up, or am I safe there? thanks guys"thumbs up

Oh and have you ever raced the Duster I had an 85 before a drunk in a lincon TC killed it
