I've heard a lot of conflict over this, but is 3 inch the best or is that 2 big? Meaning is 2.5 just as good or no? thanks

If the car is turbocharged and the 3" fits, then no it's not overkill. It's not overkill in the sense of putting a Nascar-style dry sump oiling system on your daily driver Chevy pickup. It's just a very good choice if you plan on making less than 250-275 hp. 2.5" is also a good choice for those power levels. It really comes down to what you want on your car, what fits and what your budget will support. There is nothing wrong with either size as long as you're not after 275-300+ hp. If 300+ hp is the goal then by all means go with a mandrel bent 3".

If you have a garrett or larger then the more you can open the exhaust after the turbine the better. i.e. 3" SV, 3" donut, 3" exhaust. Of course porting the manifold before also works wonders. If you're using a Mitsu don't bother upgrading it period. It will creep to boost cutout.
