The turbine housing is so restrictive the wastegate can not flow enough air. Say your boost controller is set to 12 PSI. Well, at wide open throttle it will probably get to 12 PSI before 3000 RPM, BUT as you are going through the rest of the range the boost starts ''creeping'' up 13, 14, and you will hit boost cutout which is at 15.

Do a search on more technical info! But creep is when you driving along at say 12 psi and it goes up all by itself and you can't keep your boost steady. If I remember reading right, this is caused because the turbo is so small, that now you've put on free exhaust, the turbo can't get it out and it stacks up in the compressor and causes boost creep!

So I'll get creep with 3" out under the door, but what if I run it to the back of the van? Same deal or will that help a little?

LOL

You'll have creep no matter what if you make your exhaust anything other than stock. Yeah it sucks that much.

So either 2.5 or 3", I won't notice a difference? Might as well do 2.5 and save a buck or two!

It might not creep as fast, but it still will and you with get cutout.

Save yourself a lot of hassle and go with a Turbo 2 garret, with a 2.5'' swingvalve and 3'' exhaust. Your van will be a full second faster in the 1/4 even at the same boost levels.

Wish I had extra $ for that stuff... and the knowledge of where to get it... and how to install it... and tune it... (I'm a Chevy V8 guy, can you tell?)

Save up and do it right the first time. Don't tool around with the mitsu on a 2.5, waste of time and money. Visit www.thedodgegarage.com for more info. I don't think he covers going from a mitsu to a garret, but read up on the basics anyway.
