ok, I just got my 86 GLH and I'm in the process of getting it to run ( headgasket, plugs/wires, plumbing, etc.. ) while I am in the process, I was thinking about run 2" piping on my exaust with no cat, and maybe a cheap "Pep-Boy" muffler. Would there be any HP/TQ gain. If so how much would you guys guess?

I thought 2 1/4 was stock? I would go with 2.5" if you plan to make her a mover.

1 7/8" is stock...

If you are going to do it, make it at least the size of the downpipe 2 1/4". But bigger is better.

Opening up a stock system to a 2.5" is good for about 30 whp

I don't see any mention about whether or not this is a GLH-Turbo or Carbuerated car. On a turbo car the bigger the better, but on a carb car too big may actually kill some power, especially low end. 2" would be a good size for a carb car.

you'd get 5 or so whp on a NA motor with exhaust.

Turbo, you should see a bigger gain than that
