3" on Stock 85 SC

Hey guys, my 85 SC has the stock 2.25" SV, what would I need to do to get a 3" to hook up to it? Is it possible with the 2.25, or would I need to get a 2.5 (I have one....its going on my TII turbo that I'm using down the road) SV? Thanks.
