first of all, my appologies for not posting in a long while-
yes I still have the turbovan, no it still has not passed emissions (and I have to wait a fair bit before I can get a permit to attempt again), I installed a passenger side window (yes I also shop-vac'ed the old one out of the door frame) and fixed the regulator on the driver's side window (now I won't have to have nightmares about not being able to get fast food)

anybody here with a slightly portable 2-5 gas analyzer in AZ that they wouldn't mind lending?

anyway I think the farmers who owned the vehicle before put the throttle stop screw way passed where the IAC can adjust the idle properly (currently idleing @ 1k in park, and I think they did it to sort of mask the fact that one of the spark plugs in the engine was...basically destroyed ), so, is there a procedure for setting minimum air on this that I can do without a scantool? I am sorry for my ignorance if the answer is simple and has been repeated 10k times on this board, I haven't gotten to do very much on this project car besides ripping my hair out at the large amount of vacuum line that I want to replace before I break it by my hand slipping

Vacuum line is not bad, just replace all lines with a vacuum block and rubber lines and you'll be fine.

that's what I was planning to do.

as far as what I was calling bad, it's mostly those kentucky fried plastic tee's and other hard brittle plastic nearby

Rip the factory stuff all out.

Send me a PM, if you need help sorting out the vacuum lines, since I'm somewhat local.

just pulled most of the vacuum harness, and some of the pcv system
--
after looking at most of the hose (including the bits on the turbocharger and wastegate actuator) a whole lot more line was already cracked than I had originally thought.

on that note, should I fashion a vac block out of random harbor-freight bits, or is there some place I could get one locally? also what do I do with regards to all the damn check valves?

I used to use the plastic vacuum block that ford uses, they worked fine. Any vacuum block will do...

I'd go to junkyard and grab some check valves or you can buy them new from partstore. You NEED them, or else things are not going to function properly.

should I grab new ones and set my complete harness away for a rainy day or just use the ones already in my harness (it's still very much together).

On that note, even though most of everything in there was factory, it all didn't end up matching what I have under my hood

so should I follow the notes I made and the harness as it is, or the underhood sticker when figuring out what goes where?

If I was doing it...

Trash the entire vacuum harness, keep the check valves.

Get a vacuum block and run everything form there, and follow the underhood sticker.

woo hoo, just came back from a pick-a-parts

found 2 TD minivans, and ended up taking one's valve cover(although I had to say I was tempted to grab one of the thin aluminum ones I saw on other engines that doesn't spit oil on the air filter), vacuum harness, solenoids, pcv system (though the part the pcv goes in was replaced with garden hose O_o), map sensor, engine computer, radio, and gauge cluster (my oil guage acts really funny) all for $100.

with the now spare ecm, I plan on going through the trouble to make it easy to swap roms, I am assuming a brick of fun filled epoxy, but I'll have to see when I take it apart.
I was tempted to take it's snoflake wheels, but I could only fine 3 of them
