86 GLHT with 2.5, t3/t4, custom cal, 3" exhaust, and dual stock intercoolers. I am trying to run 20-22 lbs. of boost but under WOT the lower intercooler hose blows apart the joint between the compressor outlet and the intercoolers. I have a BOV on the lower line and am using the good t-bar clamps but it seems like there is a big restriction of flow going into the engine and at 20lb. the pressure blows the line apart.
Anyone have a suggestion short of welding a steel line w/o any joints in place? The car pulls hard but blows the joint apart about 3/4's down the track and whenever I hold the boost at 20 for a few seconds.
I posted pictures and it is the joint in the back that comes apart most of the time.

That connector isn't ribbed. that smooth tube allows the hose to just slide off. If it had a slight flare at the ends, it would be able to hang on better.

Ditto. Also appears to be a bit too short, but mainly it's the lack of a bead on the pipe that allows it to come out of the coupling. What material did you use to plumb the ICs' with?

Get a longer piece of tubing right there and to make it even more solid, use a hump hose to allow for any slight misalignments or line movements. I have ran a turbo setup both ways. One with out the beads on the ends of each IC tube and one setup with no beads, & with straight polished smooth tubing.
No problems either way.

I have PVC pipe for plumbing the 2 stock intercoolers together. The joints are all glued and they work great. I will try and flare the end of the piece of steel pipe where the joint goes together9or get a longer piece) and see if that holds it. I don't think it is the motor moving and pulling it apart as it is an automatic and doesn't move very much with the mp mounts installed.
Thanks for the suggestions.

true but you cant see the engine when ur driving so it can totally torque and pull that tube out ive had it happen had to put a longer pipe on it, though u defnitly have to have ribbed ends specially when running higher psi

Theres no reason that should be coming apart with the t-bolt clamps on it, even without a bead. you either arent getting the clamps tight enough, or the pipe is too short.

simple old solution = spray pipe with hairspray before tightening. The hair spray is wet (duh) and acts like a lubricant to ease getting the pipe on and then dries sticky and holds the rubber. Got a GF?

those look like cylicone couplers. take some alcohol like brake cleaner and spray or dump a bit on the pipe and coupler then quickly before it dries up, tighten the joint together. youll have to peel it appart with a screwdriver after that!! works great!
