Ok the intercooler and pipes are installed. Of course in the normal hurry I get in I had two couplers I didn't tighten. One blew off (wow is it slow without the boost) the other just leaked and would only boost to 5lbs. Fixed those.
I used two universal bendable radiator hoses from advanced auto to go from the intercooler to the piping. They were $11 each. Reinforced and nonkink also. Much cheaper then buying 90's and couplers.
Oh yes the spray paint works great to help hold couplers. I painted my pipes and then put the couplers on.The leaks above were on nonpainted parts.
OK now after a test couple of test drives I have noticed a few things.
1. My car seems to rev up to redline much easier(colder air???)
2. But my boost comes up much slower and does not hit the max untill redline. Before it would max at about 4000 rpm and hold at max untill I let off.
Even with the lower boost curve the car seems more powerful.
Is the slower boost curve normal with an add on intercooler or do I still have a leak?
If it is normal should I start to use my MBC allitle to speed the curve up again? Right now I am using the computer to control my boost.
Any Ideas would help
Thanks

turbo is filling more volume (IC + hoses) = takes longer

sure use the MBC for a quicker 'hit'

Well on my way to work today I nailed it and my boost went up to 13 or so then backed off to 7.5 and then up to 14. I also could hear a hiss so I am pretty sure I have a boost leak.
Any easy ways to find it or just keep tightening clamps?

Tighten everything up and replaced one section of adapter hose with one solid piece. Everything seems ok. No more boosting problems.

COOL !

U R using good clamps right ? (not radiator hose style)

Clampco Products: Manufacturer of T-Bolt Band Clamps, Spring-Loaded Clamps, Worm Gear Hose Clamps, and V-Band Couplings for all industries

I like the constant force style using either a coil spring (halfway down page) or stack of Belleville washers (other manufacturers use) ; most auto parts stores can get these for ya ; gates makes a version too ; they are like 3-5$ each

We have a place here called MSC supply. They have 2 kinds. One is all stainless. The other is a stainless band with a nickle bolt. For someone trying to keep costs down the ones with the nickle are only $2.21.
What the cost at NAPA?

The web site is MSC Industrial Supply Co. Home Page
They have four locations to buy/ship from
1.Atlanta, Ga
2. Harrisburg, Pa.
3. Elkhart, IN. (near me)
4. Reno, Nv.
The $2.21 was for approx. 2.1 to 2.4 inch clamp. Prices vary depending on size and type.
It took me a while to find the T-bolt clamps in the correct size because they carry so much.
Hope this helps
