Just use my work drill and some sand paper. 60 grit coarse and 120 fine. Going to hit them again using 60, 100, 180 and see how that turns out. Have to get a table vice to finish them The end result looks like this:

Have a read: Turbo Build-Up — Mike Holler and Bob O’Neill discuss Chrysler turbochargers

*EDIT* Just did a valve using the 60, 100,180 and this worked much better than just the 60 and 120. Also added a dab of silicone grease to keep the friction down some. The valve heats up fast at those speeds. Gloves ftw.

That was a lame artical that doesn't go anywhere. Why not just come right out and say what you need to make 30 MPG? Why discuss the theory of how to do it. I got lost just trying to read it. You first describe how the computer works in closed loop in the first place. Then you describe how to make the computer do its job better. That's it. 200 + HP and 30 + MPG? Really easy, stone stock 89 T2 setup with just a FWD stage 3 computer. Leave it stock and live with just what the computer gives you. Make sure the engine has great, compression, vac lines and sensors / connections. The WHOLE artical could have been wrote in one sentence really

As far as the valve thread. I think you guys should just buy a good set of +1 SS valves. The polishing effect is going to go away once the carbon and fuel and heat hit the stock valves, the crud will return. Other than making the valve smooth there is a issue of having a better shaped valve. So with this you get the polish, but your still missing better shape and material. Just looks like to much work per gain. Like walking your date to the front door, giving her a small kiss and walking off without trying anything else. Too much work when all you want is first base?

I drive a neon. I get 38+ mpg's stock running low 14's. Yes it's modded.

What difference do stainless steel valves make? Proof? Polishing reducing the chance of detonation, as the pits in the "stock" valves are smoothed out so the remains from combustion are less likely to stick to a smoother surface. Rain-X style. Also, this process took about 3 minutes per valve, and $13 in sand paper. How much is involved with the Stage 3 pcm on a stock T2 that is in great shape from the start? This is 2008 making the 89 19yrs old. Yeah they are out there. Way out there.

Polishing is only part of the process. This is the end result:

Yikes! Check codes, give it a tune up, get new O2 sensors, check tire pressure and tread, and see where that lands you. Also is your car an mtx or atx?
