we will be making some TRUE carbon fiber and carbon/kevlar air intakes for the dodges. these intakes will be one piece carbon fiber tubing. weigh only a few ounces and have great heat dissipation characteristics. not to mention look super cool. we need some feedback as to which models of car are needed most and what you guys would like to see. need to find out if we have a market in the turbo dodge community worth pursuing.
we have a prototype for the srt4 and spirit turbo(not the r/t). looking for 2 people to send them to for testing and feedback. must run a stock style turbo in the stock location. you need to contact me with all the info on your car a pic or 2 would be helpful. you will have to sign a nondisclosure agreement with us and product will have to be returned to us at some point in time (our discretion). we will of course send you a finished product for your help. I WILL NOT POST ANY PICS OF THE INTAKES ! these are prototypes and we are spending a great deal of money and research on them, hence the nondisclosure agreement.

I think a lot of interest will be based on price and fit(where the filter ends up). How much are you planning on selling these for(A general range is fine)? I would help you out with testing the prototypes but I have a Daytona(which I think is the most popular TD)

price range is targeted for $150-$200. filter is located under batt on the spirit model. i had a spirit so that got made first. may make daytona but need enough interest to warrant it. very time consuming to make molds. spirit may fit daytona?

I hope to see a market come available for these and I expect to make a purchase for my GLH in the future. Wish I had a TD running at the moment

any pics of the tester?

I think you should make one up for the R/T models. I'd love to test one and eventually buy one for my '93 IROC R/T. If you decide to go with it, PM me...

Baron and daytona ones are what I need!
They should be relatively the same design so that wouldn't be too hard.

Just a few random thoughts about this proposed product:
1. Will intercooler pipes be offered also, or just the CAI;
2. If no IC pipes, the CAI will look out of place ;
3. I don't see many "cone-filter-CAI" type TD'ers spending over $100.00
for a great-looking but non-matching CAI that offers little if any HP gains ;
4. Seems that if all this money and research were at stake (witness non-disclosure form) there wouldn't be a need to fish around on this forum for a couple of volunteers to act as test-mules. Unless said volunteers had to submit a non-refundable deposit for the temporary use of the prototype's.
5. I'm only interested in L-bodies, and am aware that very few L-body specific performance improveing products- other than generic universal fit-
ever make it to the enthusiast's themselves.

Good luck on your research .

Respectfully, Danny Hawkins

^he brings a good point
You are being optimistic on selling a CAI at that price to a cheaper hobby as the td'ers.

intercoler piping could be done but it would have to be for a stock setup. too many aftermarket ic variations to do all. i can wrap your ic piping with cf, it would have the look just not the weight advantage. i have actually done an exhaust system that weighed almost nothing from carbon/kevlar. all you do is change the type of resins used. we actually made a top gain of almost 4hp over an aem intake on the dyno with the cf intake on a srt4. heat soak is almost non exisentent with the cf. i hope to offer these to the td guys because i love these cars, not to make a fortune. just dont want my hard work stolen, ya know!

I can understand that.
The weight advantage would be for the racers! But if you could get a vendor to offer your product then the widespread advertisement could bring a big following

this is a v. good point ; there is A LOT of commonality in the TD 'platforms'

your choice of inlet location is likely the biggest variable difference between a G, AA, H, J etc

maybe the CAI is a 2 piece with one large common piece (turbo inlet to under battery region) then a smaller elbo inlet which can be slightly different amongst the body styles

seems to be the trend for smaller entrepreneurs ; the logical step after self-marketing maxes out ;

makes sense to me - the vendors help get the product out, volume goes up a little...

L-Body FTW ! 13 year production run !! good sized market and lots of hard core racers ...

factory turbo L's include '85-6 GLH; '85-7 SC; '86 GLHS, '87 GLHS

many many of us have swapped turbocharged engines into our '78-90 L-bodys

(myself included )
