Seems like I got stung on an eBay auction where the seller claims he had an original GLHS air box and hose set for sale...of course it appears to be just a standard T2 airbox and hose set. I have questions for anyone that actually has a genuine GLHS airbox:

1. Is the fitting for the PCV on the front or the rear of the airbox? believe they are on the rear.
2. Does the 2.25" charged air outlet on the airbox (that goes to the throttle body inlet) have a molded lip on it to hold the hose on better or is it just cut off by Shelby to be one inch shorter so it will fit?

Cutting the 2.25" CAC outlet on the airbox is one way to get a standard T2 air box to kinda fit. I alos know that the GLHS air box uses a special GLHS specific air box bracket wich is now available from Omni Potent for about $45.

Of course the one I purhhased from this clown on eBay has the full length (tooooo long) outlet still on it and the PCV hose fitting is on the front of the airbox, facing the rad/ic rather than the throttle body. He swears it came off his GLHS this way...even though it has a T2 Daytona turbo inlet hose on it as well.

I'll call the Shelby Nats GLHS Class winner and ask him for you in a few hours if someone doesn't beat me with the answer to your questions.

On another note though...

Is this one for sale?

I need it for my T2-GLH!

Here is the airbox off of my GLHS. Sounds like you've figured out what the deal is. You can see where it's cut off to fit and the shorter hoses. Breather fitting is also on the outer lid.

Yup. You got it. What Chad said. The Shelby specific bracket just moves the airbox back a little to get more clearance from the intercooler/radiator.

The vac line to the airbox of the OP does that connect to a BOV? I've seen that style airbox with a BOV in it on an 89 Daytona. Only ever seen one on a tona and looked too clean to be a non-factory item. Did the T2 masi cars have a BOV in the airbox? Maybe it came from one of them.

Now that being said the GLHS airbox's were nothing more than a standard T2 airbox with the plastic part cut shorther. The lip is futile. the box and hose aren't going anywhere. Just the different bracket like already mentioned, cut the box and your'e good. Now were the hoses specific or also just cut shorter where they need to be?

The turbo inlet to air cleaner housing is GLHS/L-body turbo specific for sure. You can use a standard T1/l-body hose but you have to hack about an inch of the air cleaner side for a good fit. The G-body T2 hose is about 2" too long, it can be made to work also but the fit is a lot tighter. The air cleaner housing to intercooler hose is also a special GLHS specific part, though the standard T2/intercooler hose, which is about 2" longer (8")will fit, its just a tight fit and puts a lot of pressure on the housing, bracket and intercooler. That hose is called a CAC hose (Charge Air Cooler) and it is a 2.25" x 6.5" unit, nobody seems to have this size...at least not in black or in 2.25". It has 5 humps on it. Sometimes referred to as reinforced 'hump' hose, sometimes as convoluted hose. So far, and I spent the better part of a morning searching the Internet calling around and emailing. 2.5" ID is common...but 2.25" ID CAC seems to be quite rare. There are places that will make it custom, expensive! You could take two 2.25" 1 hump hoses (common and about 3" long) and join them in the middle with a 1.5" long piece of steel 2.25" tubing and two clamps. These are available everywhere that sells turbo silicone hose in blue and red. This will work, its about the right length but has a different look and again its a tight fit due to the spacer in the middle you have to use to join them together.
