When I was reinstalling the exaust manifold, the studs started spinning.
I brought it to the shop to get them fixed (six in total).
I have been topping off the coolant every other day. The van does not seem to burn it, there is no smoke but when I look under I see small drops on the exaust studs. Can it be that the shop tapped into the water jacket when instaling the heli coil?
I'm I screwed or is there a solution. I do not wan't to pull everything off .....again!

ok this is a commen thing just put silocone on the threads. the coil lets the water pass. and the exhoust studs do go into the water ports already :) i have had this happen. i asked my brother he runs the machine shop here in town and he just put silicone on the threads

For some reason with my luck, I have a feeling that the helicoil will come out with the stud. I will try it and let you guy's know. I feel kinda relieved knowing that it has happend to others and that it seems to be an easy fix without removing the head. Crossing my fingers!!

Thanks.

cummon people.... do it right... permetex Form-a - Gasket part number 80019. its sealing capabilites are far superior to rtv, and it sticks to the bolt, non hardening, which means it conforms to varying temperature..unlike rtv that takes a set..then when parts heat up....they leak.. i use this stuff on some head bolts and anything that has a bolt goin trough a coolant passage

I'll keep that in mind and pick some up for the week-end. Don't intend on doing this twice.
