Title says it all: Are the lines from the TB to the Purge canister really necessary?

I've seen a few pictures where people have them plugged, and they're kind of annoying. I can't really find much info on their purpose.

Seriously, I have remove the canister from my Shadow, and I have capped the lines on my van.

You might as well not even bother to answer.

Yeah no kidding. I did check the thread, but in the end there's no real yes or no answer, just some suggestions. I guess a better question would be "is there a better way to run those lines to keep them out of the way?"

Yeah I went over the thread, just wasn't sure about an affirmitive yes or no. I'll keep them for now as this isn't a race car, just a fun car, but I would like to rerun the vacuum lines from there again to get them out of the way and away from my fuel rail.

My only feeler question for you is, "Do you have an emissions visual inspection where you live?" or, "If you have an emissions visual inspection where you live, do you have a 'friend in the business'?"

What do you do with the vent line from the gas tank if you ditch the cannister? Leave it open (which I think would stink, wouldn't it?) or cap it. I'd be concerned if it was capped since the tank would no longer be vented.

Use a check valve from an aquarium supply.
