I'm now ready to upgrade the intercooler on my 87 GLHS. I'm going to go either NPR or a new Sprinter cooler. However, I don't want to get rid of my A/C, since the car is my daily driver. Is there anyway to route the intercooler pipes without removing the condensor or compressor? The condensor on the car goes all the way across the front of the car.

I would say to just look curiously for holes. I intercooled an '89 Daytona by running one pipe between the rad and rad support, and the other one through an existing factory hole. The only criteria is how fancy do you want to get with tubing bends.

You may be able to swap in a condensor from a minivan, they are taller and narrower than the GLHS unit and then you can run the tubing through the core support alongside the radiator (where the stock intercooler used to be).

Will the minivan condensor fit without having to modify the car? The stock condensor pretty well fills the area top to bottom, side to side.

Any other ideas? Anyone try running the plumbing underneath the condensor & radiator?

I would remove the stock cooler, and run a spearco from one of the vendors. I will be the least hassle possible, no cutting too. Just get creative with some brackets.

I'm not having trouble mounting the intercooler. Running the piping around the A/C system is where I'm having trouble.

I have not seen the condenser in an L body in a couple of years, but does it block off the IC in a GLHS? If not then just remove the IC from the brackets and run the pipes through the opening. If you run 2.25in. piping, that would help a lot in such a tight space.

Move the ac cond to the right a couple of inches, I moved mine with no problems.
Look for my post SRT Ic on GLHS. There are some pics of my car with the SRT FMIC. I'm using the stock radiator and now I'm running both pipes where the stock IC was mounted.
