I had told someone at SDAC that I would post these pics of the head I did some time ago for my S/L. The head works pretty good on the car, but I haven't had a good run at the track with the car to really see the difference it has made. The car doesn't want to build boost at the track for some odd reason. The best pass to date on the car has been a 15.94@94.5MPH. Considering the 1/8 time and MPH is 11.0@72, I guess it's not so bad! These numbers are on 12psi. I can get the car to build 10psi here around home. Port volume on the head is 86cc and the port flowed into the upper 180's. Valve diameter on the intake is a 1.650".

Steve, what did you use to do the filling? Devcon? Anyways, it looks to me like you have a lot of the same ideas I had concerning the port shape, just by going by the pictures anyways) Good to know I'm kinda on the right track....now to find the time to do it!

Interesting Steve..... looks very nice with the raised floor. 3cc's smaller then mine. It will be interesting how she does... 'Got Valve??'

Just for kicks, you should post pics of the intake and exhaust of the V6 head.

Frank

PS. Still May for completion of the V6 heads.

The epoxy is made by Carboline and is called "Splash Zone A-788". The stuff is great to work with and has proven very durable. I have had one failure with it in my tan GTC, this was due to an overheating situation. See about product here: http://www.farwestcorrosion.com/ccp/...oguardA788.htm

The stuff is usually sold by gallon containers and runs about $100.00 per gallon.

A lot of time and patience! I figured out it takes an additional 10 to 15 hours to do the head including all the prep time, etc. The stuff sands very easily and one must be very careful during that process. I usually go in with an air die grinder and with the air pressure set very low, rough in the shape. Once the final shape is close I can go in with cartridge rolls and finish the shape.

While sitting waiting for the damned machine shop to get some things done for me, I raised the floor of my 287 head and the intake manifold .125" with the epoxy. What I did was contoured the long turn the same as your's and James, the filled the floor. I wanted to see how it would work on the car. I didn't flow it, I just thought I would give it a try. Nicer shot to the valve anyhow. This was the head I had removed all the epoxy from during the replacement of the old 2.5 motor. I put it all back in again and then some!

I don't have a camera to take shots of the V-6 heads.
