Tonight I started working on my intake/intercooler plumbing, and I figured I'd show everyone. I did it a little differently than I've seen anyone else do and think its going to work as well as anything else around. Plus it just looks cool.

Ran out of bends though so I will have to give up for a while, and I'm also having a hard time finding 2.5" couplers locally especially other than 8-5 buisnesses.

I think it is too low. Imagine going through some deep water. SLURP!
I once ran over a brick and killed my tranny pan, imagine something getting kicked up. killing your filter and letting stuff into your engine. I think that just under the battery tray should be cool enough. Now if it just for drag racing, it looks good.

Its about 1/4" above the lower lip of the front crossbrace and significantly higher than the K-frame and bracing. Its not a daily driver, its a toy.

I think you should install a small breather filter onto the tube inside the engine bay. Even with it being a toy, water is a big concern from puddles, etc. By installing that filter, it will not provide enough lift to pick water up... or at least be less prone to do so.

Where are you relocating the battery to?

The only time the car has been wet in the last two years is when I washed it once last fall..

The battery is in the spare tire well along with the alcohol tank, yes I know its FWD. I think when done is going to make a very clean appearing installation, and work more than well enough.

Now just to get that wiring under control....

Another problem with it being so low to the ground is the tendancy to suck hot air coming off the road surface.

I once had a filter in the fender cavity in front of the drivers side front tire, and it caused the engine to ping on hot days. Moved the filter to inside the engine bay where the battery used to be, and it stopped pinging.

Thats F'n weird! But I was not thinking about radiant heat from the hot asphalt.

You get even more hot air off of the radiator from the car in front of you. This is easily illustrated by watching your ambient air temp inside your car, then pulling in behind someone and watching it go up a few degrees. Most cars have the outside air temp sensor down low approx where my air inlet is now.

I have thought this through and found it to be the way I want to do it.

Why not just turn the filter so it faces the front of the car and put a window style screen mesh over it to keep rocks from damaging the filter? Wouldn't it be better to have the air pushing into the tube anyway?

I think it's a neat idea for sure. It's nice to see people try things. You should have some pretty mean compressor noise outta that thing once it's T2'd as well.
