How do offset cam keys work exactly?

if youve ever seen a partially sheared flywheel key from a lawn mower or something, that is exactly what it looks like. instead of it looking like one uniform piece, it looks more like two pieces that were not quite aligned right and then put together.

So you push the stock key out and put the "offset" key in place and then slide the sprocket over the offset key?

Exactly. The keys are color coded representing 1*, 2*, 3*, 4* & 5* offset's. When I centerlined my camshaft & used these keys, for ex; using the 2* offset key, it will actually move the camshaft 4* & depending on how you want to move the cam, you insert it one way or the other, moving the cam CW(advance) or CCW(retard).

Ok thanks - I'll order a set of the keys and play around with cam timing until it runs like I want it to =)
