I loosened all the bolts and removed all but two of them. The other two now rest on the centre section. I believe I must keep unscrewing the bolts which will help push the turbine housing off the centre section. Any help to make this as easy as possible would be appreciated. Thanks.

Loosen the bolts and whack the turbine housing flange area with a hammer. Or a block of wood and a hammer. The couple turbos I've taken apart were frozen together pretty good in that area.

applying liquid wrench or PB blaster to the joint for a couple days then heating the housing with a torch while wacking it with a hammer in a vise loosening those bolts works well. You don't want to use the bolts to push the housing off. It will just bind on one side.

If you use the bolts to push the housing off by turning each one a little at a time, it wont bind. You still might have to whack it with a hammer though.

^^

I just disassembled a Garrett T3 turbo and used the bolts to push the housing off. I did as Cordes says, and turned each bolt just a little at a time, about 1/8 to 1/4 turn, and it came right off without binding. I didn't even use any lubricant except WD40 on the bolts. Next time, I'll use PB Blaster in that area and let it soak for at least a few hours.

I've been soakin' the disassembled parts in degreaser and removing carbon with a wire brush. Think I'm gonna convert to a hybrid before reassembly.

One thing I failed to do, before separating the compressor turbine from the shaft, was mark it in relation to the shaft for reassembly. It is my understanding that by not doing so, I'll have to balance the shaft/turbine assembly before putting it all back together. Oh well, live and learn.

Good luck with your rebuild.
