On the suggestion of a forumite I ordered a new sensor to smooth out my idle. The motor runs super smooth at startup (even with temps now in the 30's), but as soon as it warms up slightly (within only a few blocks), I get a rough idle. I was told the newer sensors are 4-wire ? I should have it (from a dealer) within a few days, but is there a diagram to change the wiring from what I might have now on the motor ? Hopefully, it's included with the new part, but I'm not counting on it.

early cars had a 1 wire, 87 and 88 were 2 wire and 89 plus are 4 wire. the fourth wire is just a sensor ground that gets bolted down with the fuel rail bolt. changing from a 4wire is a very good idea especially if you have a a/f guage hooked up, it will get a better and more accurate signal, i noticed this first time i ran the car after wiring in a 4 wire on the 88.

The 87 and 88 I parted out both had 3 wire sensors with the heater being 2 of the wires and signal the third. The 4 wire was a signal ground added in 1989. I am using a 4 wire with my 87 electronics by adding the signal ground and using a four wire plug.

oops, hit the wrong key, i meant 3 wire. one wire is the 12v heater, one is the sensor feedback to computer, the other 2 are grounds with the 4th wire being a sensor ground
